Sydenham Garden runs Practical Organic Gardening courses (Level 1 and Level 2), accredited by the OCN London.
Gardening for Wildlife (Level 1)
The Gardening for Wildlife (Level 1) course is aimed at adults with little or no prior knowledge of gardening. It introduces students to wildlife-friendly gardening practices, such as planting trees, creating wildlife habitats and ponds.
The course runs from 16th April – 21st May 2026 (6 weeks) on Thursday afternoons (2-4pm).
If you are interested in taking part, then please complete the Initial Enquiry form and a member of staff will be in touch with you soon.
Places will be offered on a first-come first-served basis to any applicants who meet the following criteria:
- are living with a mental and/or physical health issue
- can commit to a weekly session for the full duration of the course
- have an interest in horticulture and a desire to be in a structured learning environment.
The teaching takes place in beautiful, peaceful surroundings and is set at a steady pace so it’s accessible to learners with additional support or learning needs.
Practical Organic Gardening Course (Level 2)
Our Level 2 course runs from 5th February – 10th December 2026. It is fully booked for 2026.
The OCN project strand is funded by The National Lottery’s Reaching Communities Fund.
